The framework

The 8D framework is a practical map for how hypnotic change becomes possible.

8D Hypnosis looks at change through state, attention, intention, discernment, language, metaphor, practice, and integration. The point is not to make hypnosis complicated. The point is to make it easier to understand, teach, and use.

State

State comes first. A person thinks, chooses, remembers, imagines, and responds differently from different states.

Attention

Attention is a power of selection. Where it goes, experience follows. Focus costs energy, so we aim it carefully.

Intention

Intention gives the work a direction. It names what the person wants more of, not only what they are done carrying.

Discernment

Discernment is the timing layer. It notices what matters, what can wait, and when the next move is clean enough.

Language

Words are not decoration. They shape attention, organize state, and give the mind a pattern to practice.

Metaphor

A good metaphor gives the mind a world to work inside. The best metaphors often come from the person using them.

Practice

Hypnosis becomes more useful when it becomes a skill. Small practices, repeated well, become available when needed.

Integration

The work matters when it enters ordinary life: the walk, the breath, the choice, the pause, the next conversation.

The shortest version

Pause first. Notice clearly. Move when the timing is clean.

The Still Point sits at the center of this work. From there, the mind can spread out into spaciousness, gather into focus, stop the forward momentum in an unwanted direction, reorient, move toward what is wanted, or wait until the next move becomes clear.

The Skills Lab cards make the framework visible. They are small enough to practice, playful enough to remember, and useful enough to build into a personal self-hypnosis script.
